Abacus is a personal ledger at abacus.helex.io, open only to its owner. It keeps the transactions imported from bank and YNAB exports and the reports they're sorted into. It shows no ads, sells nothing, and shares data only with the services below that run it.
What it stores
- The account: an email address, used to send sign-in codes.
- Sign-in sessions: a session cookie, and with each session the IP address and browser it came from.
- Transactions: account, date, payee, category, memo, flag, amounts and cleared status from each export, the bank's extra fields such as merchant address, and which import brought each one in.
- Reports: their names, dates, and the transactions sorted into them.
- YNAB, if you connect it: read-only access tokens, stored encrypted, the plan synced, and the transactions in the synced accounts. Abacus never changes anything in YNAB.
- Claude, if you connect it: the connector's registration and the access you granted it.
Who handles it
- Cloudflare hosts the app and its database, and keeps request logs, with query strings removed, to diagnose problems.
- YNAB sends the transactions in the synced accounts when you connect it.
- Resend delivers sign-in codes to the owner's email address.
- Anthropic receives what Claude reads from or writes to the ledger when you use the connector, under Anthropic's own terms.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces, so your browser contacts Google when a page loads.
